Rappelling at Turtle Mountain
The Guaratiba Biological and Arqueological Reserve shelters extensive wetlands and typical vegetation, this region is one of the most beautiful and pristine areas of Rio de Janeiro's coast.
Starting at Barra de Guaratiba, it's an hour walk, and the view from Turtle Mountain is worth the effort. From the turtle's head it's possible to go on a 50 mts (160 ft) negative rappel descent, giving an adventurous spin to the trip, finishing it by swimming at one of the wildest beaches in Rio, the Praia do Perigoso.
